Why do I need a new passport photo after my name change?
Updating the name on your passport means a new application, and every application needs a recent 2 x 2 photo that meets the State Department rules. A name change can't go through online renewal, so you need printed photos.
Do I need a new passport photo after I change my name after marriage?
Yes. Whichever form you use to update your passport after marriage (DS-5504 if your passport is less than a year old, DS-82 by mail, or DS-11 in person), the State Department asks for one 2 x 2 photo taken in the last 6 months. An older photo can't be reused.

What if my photo doesn't pass a check?
You see exactly what to fix, like more light or moving back a little, and retake it as many times as you need. Nothing is printed until every check passes.
Can I upload a photo I already have?
Yes. Upload it instead of taking a new one and we check it against the same rules.
